The last words I said to my sister were

January 6, 2022

The last words I said to my sister were, “I love you. I’ll see you in a couple days.”⁣

You see, my sister wasn’t an outwardly mushy woman. She didn’t let people in easily and it was rare for her to trust you enough to show her full vulnerability. It was a joke between us because I was always the “feely” one that forced all my loves on her. ⁣

This time though, she said, “I love you too ‘seester’ so so much.”⁣

I’ve ran that conversation through my head so many times I can’t even put a number on it. But what I can put on it is, awareness. What if our last conversation had gone differently? ⁣

You know sometimes we make mistakes. We say stupid shit. We hurt people that we love. We do or don’t do things we shouldn’t or should do....⁣

It’s all part of being human. ⁣

The awareness is understanding how your words affect others....knowing that we all make mistakes and acknowledging that you have the ability to fix them...⁣

To make things right. ⁣
To do better. ⁣
To BE better. ⁣

Let’s all try to be a little bit more mindful with our words 💜
