“Unforgiveness unchecked becomes a cancer of the soul”-Bishop T.D. Jakes
Forgiveness is hard y’all.
I’m talking true forgiveness,
It is extremely difficult to look at someone and tell them that you forgive them, especially without an apology to initiate it. But at the end of the day, forgiveness is for you, not the other person.
It is a release of the negative energy you are holding in your body which is manifesting into physical pain, fatigue, fear, anxiety, etc.
It is surrendering the hurt, the betrayal, the anger, and any other negative emotion you are harboring because of the situation, to something greater than yourself,... to help YOU heal..
Whether that be to God, Spirit, Universe…
It is releasing control of your thoughts, feelings, and emotions towards the situation, to that greater power.
With that said, before you can truly forgive others, you have to forgive yourself.
My favorite prayer when struggling with forgiveness is Ho’oponopono.
I love you…
I’m sorry…
Please forgive me..
Thank you..
Say it with me…
I love you (to yourself) I am worthy of giving love and being loved…
I’m sorry for not speaking my truth which set the stage for the behavior I accepted from others that created hurt, fear, anger, and resentment.
I forgive myself for the things I said, didn’t say, did, or didn’t do that created hurt, fear, anger, and resentment in myself and others.
Thank you for helping me see others and myself through love and for allowing me to surrender this pain to you.
Forgiveness is a process…One day at a time, one moment at a time, one breath at a time, any forward progress should be considered a win.
